WARHOL EDUCATION
School Trips Get Warholized!
Are you ready to Warhol?
Classes from Kindergarten to Grade 12 can enjoy exploring Andy Warhol’s Factory 2009 and learn first-hand how his works of art were created. Each of our Education Programs includes an interpreter-lead tour of Andy Warhol’s Factory 2009 and an art-making session in The Underground Studio, Presented by The Frank Cowan Foundation.
All education programs will cover expectations in the Visual Arts curriculum outlined in the Ontario Primary or Secondary Curriculum.
MIX AND MUDDLE WARHOL
Kindergarten - Grade 1
After taking a look at Warhol’s many prints, students will head down to The Underground Studio, Presented by The Frank Cowan Foundation, to mix and muddle colours to create their own Warhol inspired print! Students will focus on the primary and secondary colours as well as explore warm and cool colours in their art making.
AD OR ART?
Grades 2-5
Do you think there’s art under your kitchen sink? While looking at Warhol’s Tomato Juice Boxes and Heinz Cases and Heinz Cases students’ minds will be expanded when they realize there is art all around them. They will then head downstairs to The Underground Studio, Presented by The Frank Cowan Foundation, and flex their artistic muscle enhancing, embellishing and building their own Warhol inspired boxes.
CELEBRITY, YOU!
Grades 6-8
Never mind Marilyn and Mick Jagger! This program is all about you – the ‘celebrity!’ Explore colour theory and line drawing while fashioning your own Warhol-esque image. Students will first study the ideas of line and colour during a visit to the exhibit and then head down to The Underground Studio for creative play re-inventing themselves through ‘Warhol’ eyes.
THE SILVER SILKSCREEN
Grades 9-12
Did the media affect Warhol or did Warhol affect the media? Students will be invited into the exhibit to view Warhol’s art and consider the many ways the media affects our lives. In The Underground Studio, Presented by The Frank Cowan Foundation, students will get to know the process that Warhol is most famous for (silk screening, of course) and have a chance to try it out for themselves.
