The Art, Inspiration and Appropriation of Andy Warhol
The anchor to it all - The Art, Inspiration and Appropriation of Andy Warhol, curated by Marla Wasser, is a collection of over 60 Warhols representing his most iconic works – from Soup Cans to Mick Jaggers to Liz Taylors. An appropriator from the start, Warhol created using everyday images and objects and democratically churned them out again and again in is Factory studio. Founding an entire genre, Andy’s ‘pop’ style changed the face of the art world then and his influence continues to resonate through North American culture today – in advertising, fashion, music, culture, and of course, art.

Today, artists all around the globe continue to draw on Warhol for inspiration and appropriate his style, form and content in their own media.

The Art, Inspiration and Appropriation of Andy Warhol juxtaposes the works of at least a dozen important contemporary artists who have appropriated Warhol’s masterpieces to illustrate the degree of relevancy Warhol has today.

The Underground Studio

In order to complete the cycle of inspiration and appropriation The Museum encourages visitors to drop by The Underground Studio to experiment and create with a mixture of new and old art and technology. There’s a little Warhol in everyone so take yours home!
