A Special Letter to our Teachers

Thank you for taking a moment to read this note.

Dear Teachers,

It is with pleasure that I write this letter to update educators on the recent changes and progress at The Museum.

In September 2007, we celebrated the launch of 25 new curriculum based education programs that have been met with much enthusiasm and great success. Within only the first three months of offering our new curriculum based education programs that cover topics such as visual arts, science and technology, language and math, our bookings for school groups exceeded the total number of students from the entire previous school year. This success has enabled us to further develop new programs but also to evaluate and enhance our current offerings.

Driven by the Teacher-in-Residence position, The Children's Museum has been able to take the lead in creating new educational and curriculum based programs to suit the needs of our student population. In 2009, we launched a healthy lifestyle program titled Kids in Motion: a Healthy Start and expanded our student demographic into secondary schools with programming featuring our temporary exhibitions.

Educational programs for 2010 featured Our Body: The Universe Within, an exhibition which features polymer-preserved human bodies and more than 200 organs and partial body specimens. The 2010/2011 school year will hold more new K-12 curriculum based programs, such as Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition. We are also launching a new Kids in Motion program for students in grades 4-6.

I want to sincerely thank those of you who have shown your support for The Museum. We are committed to bringing the best programs possible to students across the region. This is an exciting time for The Museum and we will continue to develop new and exciting programs in order for students to have the opportunity to continue to learn and grow through this innovative and hands-on facility.

Sincerely,

David Marskell
