Kids in Motion: A Healthy Start
Grades K-3
Meet KiM, our Kids in Motion mascot and learn about different parts of the body and how they work. JKs to grade 2 will have fun moving and grooving to the routines of Fun, Fast and Fit, while grade 3s will use their creativity to put together their own routine to get their hearts pumping. After sorting the four food groups, make and taste a healthy and delicious smoothie in our smoothie making station!

Join us for an interactive exploration of Our Body | The Universe Within. Students will explore the exhibit while completing a variety of hands-on activities to provoke thought and conversation about the inner working of the human body.
GPS Adventures

Created by Groundspeak, creators of Geocaching.com, GPS Adventures helps combine the excitement of a treasure hunt with the chance to inspire families to explore the great outdoors in ways you never have before. Navigating around obstacles, cracking mysterious codes and learning how to prepare for a treasure hunt are all part of the adventure designed to inspire a treasure hunt of your own.
Grades 1, 2, 3: Orbiting the Earth!
Participate in a hands-on activity to understand how satellites move around the earth. Then explore map making in our Museum space!

Dive into the different ways we communicate and learn how satellites help us do it! Explore the grid system, trail blaze new directions and create your own geocache!

Woldemar Neufeld: Stories Best Told

This fall, The Museum will showcase Woldemar Neufeld's talent as a true storyteller in the hundredth year of the artist's birth. The Museum will continue its initiative to integrate art, science and technology in over a dozen original pieces in Woldemar Neufeld: Stories Best Told. Join us this fall to discover not only a treasured art collection, but the talent found within our community.
Grades 1, 2, 3: Carousels of Colour
Investigate Woldemar Neufeld's use of line and colour in this original, hands-on program. Examine Neufeld's cheery "Circus" series and then create your own masterpiece!
This program is 70 minutes in length.
Grades 4, 5, 6: Exploring Elements and Principles
Develop a rich understanding of the principles and elements of composition through examining the art of Neufeld. Learn about value, shape, line and texture and then create your own art!
This program is 90 minutes in length.
Grades 7, 8: Perspective in Landscape
Investigate the conventions of perspective in art and experimentation with new landscape drawing and printing techniques. Leave with your own landscape masterpiece!

Kids in Motion: a Healthy Start
Grades JK - Grade 3
Participate in a cross-curricular physical activity and healthy eating program! Meet KiM, our Kids in Motion mascot, who will be your guide to investigating our internal organs in one of three hands-on stations. Stretch, move and groove while getting your body moving in our physical activity station. At the Smoothie Station learn about the importance of local produce while making and tasting your own healthy smoothie recipes. Learn all about the importance of making healthy lifestyle choices in a fun and interactive way!
Mission Possible (SK)
Use the tools in your Detective Kit to examine clues and experiment with evidence, then decide, "who did it!"
This program is 60 minutes in length.
This program has been designed especially for kindergarten aged children. While playing and experimenting with various exhibits within the museum, attention will be paid to developing teamwork and social interaction skills. The nature and length of each activity have been created with the interests and needs of our younger visitors in mind.
This program is 45 minutes in length.
Through an exploration of the museum's exhibits, students will be introduced to different forms of energy, become a link in a food chain, and understand the importance of renewable resources!
This program covers every single expectation in the Science and Technology, Energy and Control Strand for Grade 1.
This program is approximately 60 minutes in length.
Grade 2: Kids Inspiring Change: Energy from Wind and Moving Water
Come explore and experiment with us. Students will be blown away as they actively investigate wind and moving water as forms of energy, and learn about their importance as resources on earth.

Grade 3: Materials Matter
Learn about different kinds of materials used to build structures and experiment with their strength! Students will participate in a variety of hands-on activities to help them investigate the concept of structural stability. Build your own Parthenon and test out the strength of a suspension bridge. Compare and contrast different building materials and build a tower.

Grade 4: Sounds DeLIGHTful
Students interact with museum exhibits and take part in activities that demonstrate properties of both light and sound. Students will illustrate light and colour mixing, experiment with wavelengths with the use of prisms and describe different types of waves (light and sound) and their characteristics.
This program is approximately 90 minutes in length.
Grade 5: Kids Inspiring Change: Conservation of Energy and Resources
Students will discover the importance of the conservation of energy in relation to renewable and non-renewable energy sources. They will participate in interactive activities focusing on how we use different natural resources as sources of energy and the effect of their uses on the environment.
This program is approximately 80 minutes in length.
Grade 6: Space
What does it feel like to travel into space? Come and find out! Blast off into space exploration and astronomy. Find out how the space environment is different from our environment on Earth. See a to-scale solar system (sun and first three planets) and discover just how big our sun really is! Learn how space research resulted in things that we enjoy everyday!
This program is approximately 1.5 hours in length.
Grade 7: Heat
Students will "see heat" through our infrared camera! Discover what heat is, how it's transferred and how radiated heat helps us to solve problems. Identify natural sources of heat and experiment with alternative, environmentally friendly methods of heating and cooling food and drink!
This program is approximately 2 hours in length.
Grade 1,2,3: Along the Lines of Colour
Engage in this original and inspirational program on colour and line. Hands on creation allows kids to investigate, discuss and be introduced to the elements of design. Every child will finish by creating their very own masterpiece!

Grade 4,5,6: Technically Speaking
Museum Interpreters will enlighten students with the importance of story structure, themes and characters. Students then make their way around the Museum, receiving instruction from iPods and taking digital photographs which will become key pieces in the development of their story! Using story boards, students will weave their photos into a final composition to present live on microphone in our Grand Atrium!
