The Happy Prince - 7PM

This classic tale by Oscar Wilde follows the bejeweled statue of a Prince as he looks over his kingdom. A sparrow, delayed on her migration to Egypt, stops to rest on the statue. There, she is startled by the drop of a tear. The statue of the Prince cries to the sparrow, telling her how he can see the suffering of his people. He shows her many of the kingdom's people as they cry in need. The sparrow delays her trip longer and begins plucking jewels from the statue upon the Prince's request. As the winter approaches, the sparrow's need to fly south becomes urgent, however, she is drawn to help the Prince help his people survive the bitter cold. Follow this heartwarming story as the sparrow learns about the fragility of human life.
The Happy Prince is an educational outreach performance of the beloved Oscar Wilde story by the Waterloo Regional SNATS chapter. The group is made up of local voice students and emerging artists breaking into the performaing and teaching fields who hope to bring the exciting world of singing to children of all backgrounds.
