On behalf of the Board of Directors and staff I would like to welcome you to The Museum's website. Together with a team of creative and dedicated volunteers and supporters we are all very excited to be a part of this amazing organization where there is always a celebration of the imagination!
It is both a privilege and a humbling experience to be part of such a wonderful attraction. This past year has been an exceptionally successful one, and our success will only continue to grow exponentially as we are still in the midst of enjoying the CosmicMania: Our Space Rocks exhibition created with the help of local innovators including COM DEV and Ontario Drive and Gear and wil the help of others including NASA, The ROM and the Canadian Space Agency.
As I enter my fourth year as the leader of this wonderful establishment, I am pleased that the emphasis on programs, exhibits, and communications is resonating with our visitors and the public. During the last two years together, we have accomplished a lot. I am pleased to announce that we have:
Attained the first annual operating profit and increase in paid attendance.
Began a Teacher in Residence program and launched 25 curriculum based programs.
Stabilized and themed our permanent exhibits.
Collaborated in excess of 30 times to bolster our public programs.
Attracted world class exhibits like Andy Warhol's Factory 2009 and Our Body:The Universe Within
All of this could not have been accomplished with out the dedication, time, funds and effort contributed by a very broad, very diverse group of special people. Those investments are quickly revealing inspiring results, and I am happy to share them with my team and with our guests.
I would like to sincerely thank the first Executive Director, who provided the vision, perseverance and creative energy required to make this dream a thrilling reality. I also would like to thank the Board of Directors for their guidance and support and the fantastic staff whose dedication and trust in me has allowed us to grow together.
The challenges the Children's Museum faces in the coming years are immense but the opportunities are invaluable. I am confident that working together with the entire community, the original vision for The Museum can be realized.
Thank you for visiting our website, and for the warmth this community has shown my family, we are grateful and humbled by the wonderful three years we have spent here.
