Kitchener, ON - This weekend, Exhibit Cafe will open for business. The new cafe, located in the Museum's front foyer will be available to both Museum visitors and King Street pedestrians. Named appropriately for its location, Exhibit Cafe will offer light vegan and vegetarian meals, espressos and smoothies at a competitive price.
"The Museum is extremely fortunate to have attracted this type of food service operator for the Cafe," said David Marskell, the Museum's Chief Executive Officer. "We're thrilled that we can now offer affordably priced, healthy lunch specials to our school groups, daily visitors and business people in the area."
Jodi Koberinski, the Cafe operator, has eight years of food service experience but this is her first restaurant project. Ms. Koberinski is also President of Millstream Foods, a manufacturer and distributor of organic foods.
"We are pleased to be partnering with the Children's Museum to increase access to fresh, local organic foods in the downtown core," said Koberinski. "Our team has created a place where folks can nourish themselves on many levels. Our intention is to create a community - to be a place where people can meet, exchange ideas, and enjoy good company and good food." She adds that, "we are already working with Museum staff to add special events, workshops and discussion groups in the coming months."
Exhibit Cafe offers patrons access to free WIFI connection and will be adding an additional washroom. Once completed Exhibit Cafe will have the ability to remain open to the public before and after Museum hours.
"We have responded to our Members and visitors who told us they wanted this type of service at the Museum," Marskell said. "Exhibit Cafe now allows us to be more aggressive in the catering business and allows us to market to corporate and community functions."
