Female Inspiration Keynote at Museum Event |
| Posted by Children's Museum Admin (cmadmin) on Friday, 14th December, 2007 at 9:40 AM |
The event, which despite the title is not exclusive to women, will feature the speakers drawing on their experiences as women in the political, military and business world.
"This is the first of many Museum After Dark events and I am pleased that this particular one encourages young women to push their envelope and step outside of their comfort zone," said David Marskell, the Museum's Chief Executive Officer. "I am proud the Museum can be a catalyst for this community and show leadership in making a difference in women's issues."
Mondou will speak to the audience and then be accompanied by Regional Councillor, Diane Freeman, who in addition to being a City Councillor, Civil Engineer and Vice-President for Professional Engineers of Ontario, is also an advocate for women's leadership. Together, Mondou and Freeman will engage the audience and encourage participation in a fireside chat format. Later, Mondou will be available for a signing of her first and very successful bestselling book, "Hit the Ground Leading!"
Mondou, who spent nine trying years as a Captain in the Canadian Air Force and then used her leadership skills and expertise in an executive marketing role at RIM, will be the keynote speaker for the evening's event. Mondou has spent six years traveling across North America where she speaks to people and encourages them to push their envelope and go beyond their boundaries. In her hugely powerful and successful bestselling book, she sums up her goal by saying, "leadership is not just a skill for the 'chosen' few ... it's a skill that anyone can build - just like muscle. But, you've really got to want it!"
Women of Today and Tomorrow: Sharing the Gift of Wisdom, will take place at The Children's Museum on September 26th and is a fundraiser for the Museum. The talk, which speaks to women young and old, will be based on the real life experiences of two local, inspirational women, Angela Mondou and City of Waterloo Councillor, Diane Freeman.
Kitchener, ON - This fall the Children's Museum in downtown Kitchener will host an event that will awe, inspire and enlighten women of all ages.
