GPS Adventures to Open this Fall |
| Posted by Children's Museum Admin (cmadmin) on Sunday, 5th July, 2009 at 8:46 PM |
GPS Adventures opens September 19th and runs until January 3rd.
Created by Groundspeak, founders of Geocaching.com, GPS Adventures helps combine the excitement of a treasure hunt with the chance to inspire families to explore the great outdoors in ways you never have before. Navigating around obstacles, cracking mysterious codes and learning how to prepare for a treasure hunt are all part of the adventure designed to inspire a treasure hunt of your own.
GPS Adventures combines technological and environmental discovery while continuing The Children's Museum's ability to awe and inspire families of any age. "The focus of the exhibit will teach entire families about a new technology and ultimately introduce them to a new activity which they can do together," explains David Marskell, CEO of The Children's Museum.
Visitors to The Museum this fall will discover the thrill of Geocaching - a family and environmentally friendly, worldwide treasure hunting game. More than three million people around the world are on the hunt for nearly a half million hidden treasures. Using GPS or Global Positioning Systems technology to guide visitors through a life-sized maze exhibition, families will be introduced to the advantages of innovative GPS technology. Featuring four unique stages to hunt for caches (treasures), the Museum's GPS experience includes different environments ranging from the urban city to the great outdoors.
After a summer spotlight on art and science, The Children's Museum is pleased to announce its fall lineup which includes a an exhibit with a particular focus on technology. GPS Adventures, an interactive traveling family friendly exhibition, encourages parents and children alike to awaken their sense of adventure and combine it with cutting edge technology.
