KITCHENER, ON - In collaboration with two area film festivals - The Waterloo Regional Festival for Animated Cinema and Multicultural Cinema Club - The Children's Museum will house an six week Animation Camp. Students aged 12-18 from all over the Region are encouraged to register for this camp which will take place over six Saturdays in October and November. The camp, which begins October 25 and runs through November 29, will host a total of 12 children to learn first-hand the skills it takes to become an animator. Lead by practicing experts in the field, there is a focus of study that varies from the basics to final editing each week. Through the partnering of these local organizations, local animators will be provided with all of the tools they will need to create their masterpieces by the Multicultural Cinema Club and will have The Children's Museum to call their studio. The Waterloo Regional Festival for Animated Cinema, entering into their eighth year, is also a major partner in this effort. "The Museum is absolutely delighted to be hosting this camp," says David Marskell, the Chief Executive Officer of the Museum. "The Museum’s mission is to allow people of ages to learn through blending art and technology and animation is the perfect means with which to accomplish this." "Ultimately," says Azam Fouk Aladeh, the artistic director for the Multicultural Cinema Club, "we are giving children a rare and wonderful opportunity here. We are exposing them to the world of animation with them having to leave the city is totally accessible for all."
